An Afternoon with Kukdukoo Art Festival
I had an amazing time this afternoon participating at the Kukdukoo Art Festival, India’s biggest online art event. I had the pleasure of giving an art session to children on creating unique characters using everyday objects as a source of inspiration. I talked about art, artistic journeys an how I normally incorporate cultural Omani elements into my art. At first, I wasn’t sure about giving an art talk to children online, but the they amazed me, as children always do, with their comprehension abilities. I was enamored of their response and the artwork they produced during a short 30-minute demo. I thought following instructions during an online session would be challenging, but the children rose to the challenge. The did not only follow the demo, but added their personal twist to the character illustrations. It was a learning experience for me to witness how ‘style’ shows with each child’s character illustration. Every child had his/her unique style despite following the same demo and this fascinates me the most when I teach children drawing.
